The country of Malawi currently receives the majority of its medical aid from outside countries like the USA and EU. With very little chemical and biological production within the country the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences plans to create a Center of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences. This design showcases three main programs a large laboratory and manufacturing space, warehouse and administration space, and an educational department. The driving concept behind this project was to separate each of these programs into their own sections of the campus with multiple open air, multi use outdoor spaces throughout the site, creating a more formal and sealed program along the road frontage based on the programs requirements. This then transforms to a porous and free design for the education side which allows the site to open up to vista views through the classroom buildings.
